possible x10 customer
« on: November 01, 2005, 05:03:26 PM »

I want to invest in a home security system.
Reading all the posts in this forum makes me
think I should not buy an x10 system.  I
want to have the capability for night use,
take pictures and rotate pictures from 1
camera to the next.  The salesman said I
could take pics in 6-second intervals with
the software supplied.

I'm with you.  I've been researching the
cameras & trying to educate myself, but am
very much scared off by all the negative
feedback here.  Also, sadly I tried some
email support to get answers to a couple
questions & received one line answers that
did not answer my question but referred me
back to either a phone number or online
documentation (which I had already read, but
was looking for clarification).  It concerns
me as if pre-sales support is sorely
lacking, I'm very afraid of what after-sales
will be like.  I'll watch your thread to see
what info you get.

I found this company
http://www.123cctv.com/security.html and the
equipment seems to be a step up over this
stuff.  Yet, prices are reasonable vs some
of the security camera systems I've been
seeing.  Thier out of Littleton, CO and look
legite.  But, as w/ the X10 you can not
trust everything you read.  They offer
infrared cameras and was wondering if
anybody could comment on these products.
Thanks!

I just purchased a Philips PH61153 switcher
from walmart to switch between 4 cameras
that I think will work good for me.  I'm
going to check out the site you mentioned as
I only have one camera so far (I'm going
with wired).  RadioShack (Security Labs) has
some that offer better resolution than some
of the X10's & I'm still shopping.  I plan
on using X10 addresseable power supply to
switch between cameras (12v).  I'm going to
go look at the site you mention now.  It
seems to be coming together. :)

Waiting For Refund

Don't buy X10 - period. You WILL regret it.
I have been more than patient with their
lame promises, sloppy sales, and while they
have all their products back and have for a
month now, they refuse to answer email
requests as to when I will see my $600.00
refund, and telephone support is a joke.

Spend a little more money, get a working
usable product from any X10 competitor and
you will be much better off.

Very Interestng I've checking this site for
awhile. Totally in the dark about video
security but I would like to have one. It's
less complicated getting a pistol living in
Chicago. Damn site looks ok but support is
very important to me. Hows the quality of
the products?

I have a 4 camera setup, with Multiview,
Webview, and Xray Vision, along with
numerous lights, motion sensors. As far as
the cameras, they work fine, can switch
between the 4 cameas on the TV or PC with
Multiview, no problems. I can get emails of
snapshots from the 4 cameras at work, but
as of now am still trying to access cameras
with Webview. I am pleased with the
light/sensors setups and automations, and
camera view at home, but only somewhat
pleased with remote access at this time.

Sometimes I have found that a product does
not work to my satisfaction.  HOWEVER, I
personally have found x10 to be very
responsive to my request for full refund or
replacement.

And, if the product is satisfactory, which is
most often is, how can I beat the price ??

If someone can answer the price question,
please respond.

I just installed the low light camera and
was quite pleased with it.

I live up north in -20 degree weather and
it worked better than I expected.

DO NOT!!! even think of buying this junk!
DO NOT belive positive opinions! IT DOES
NOT WORK! Night vision cameras - well they
see nothing in the night, motion detectors
detect no motion, computer software is
junk...Money back guarantie - that good
one - I wait six weeks. They gave back
money $85 short - now I have to fight with
them for my full refund. How many times
Skootch used word junk - double it!
