Actually after I installed a phase coupler
today, everything works as advertised. I do
not work for X10 and I had a series of
problems in the beginning but guess what.
Everything works. I have a security system
with 10 door/window sensors, a 3 camera
setup right now with Active Home Pro and the
iwitness and smart macro modules and
everything works. I can control my lights
via macros in smarthome and via remote
controls, I watch my video on 3 different
TV's and in scan mode I can watch all 3.
Take some time, learn the stuff, it works.
By the way, I am using wireless cameras and
it works just fine.
The floodcam turns on with motion as
advertised and gives a pretty good picture
too.
Anyway.............

No it was not luck. I had to do my research,
read the manuals, and do some tinkering but
the stuff works. The camera quaility could
be a little better, but for the price I paid
for my setup I am very satisfied. With
everything I have right now, I figure it
would have cost 10k from another vendor, and
I have paid around 1k total so far.
I will stick with X10.

I have found that on occasion my x10 product
will not work properly.

But what I don't understand is why no one
mentions how very cooperative and responsive
x10 is when something is returned for full
refund or replacement ??????

You mean, if I buy a "complete" security
cam system, it's not really complete? I
have to buy some seperate phase coupler or
line bridge (both of which I am clueless!)
before it will actually work??

Ceej; It is a fairly common problem with
many X10 installs. Most homes are wired
split phase. About half the home is on each
phase. The X10 Line Signals many times have
porblems getting to the other phase. Leading
to control problems. A phase coupler is what
most find is the solution. In real bad cases
a Line Repeater is needed.
Another problem is powerline noise and
signal suckers. When X10 developed the line
signal scheme. Most modern electronic
devices where not even dreamed of yet. Now
days it is not uncommon to need a few X10
Line Filters to eliminate interference on
the powerline. My computers APC BX1000 UPS
killed my signals to the point I needed a
filter on its line cord.

John I think I can Help. Most likely you have interference problems.
I just posted the following message under "Interference of X-10 Equipment" thread:
