Has anyone used a door/window sensor
attached to a temperature monitor to trigger
the security system when a low or high
temperature condition is detected?

It should work fine as long as the output of
the temp sensor is contact closure, not
voltage driven.  If you're not sure, use a
VOM set to measure voltage on the output of
the sensor.  If when triggered no voltage
appears, st to the ohm scale and try it
again.  You should see an open circuit (just
about infinite resistance) in one state, and
a short circuit (close to 0 ohms) in the
other.
