Dave, Glen, there's no way to do this since
the chime output (or system acknowlegement)
is not an x10 signal. You may need to simply
move the security console closer to your
exit door so you can here the chime. It
would be nice to have it trip a porch light
(ON) for 1 minute so you know it's activated.

You could buy a pair of wireless intercom's (
baby monitor? ). One set by the base unit,
the other by the exit door. The you could
hear the base unit do its chime.
Do you have an electric outlet you could plug
a lamp in by the exit door? If so, put your
lamp modual in that outlet, with a lamp
connected. Set the alarm using the "Delay
Mode". Now the chime rings for 1 minute and
the lamp will turn on, while your leaving the
house. The console will beep once (and the
lamp turns off) when the system arms. You see
the lamp turn off, you know its set.

Now that I think about it, the lamp by the
door would work good for letting you know if
the alarm had been activated while you were
away. When activated, the sirens ring and the
lamp flashes, for 4 minutes. Then it re-arms
itself, but leaves the lamp on to let you
know of the activation.

Thanks for the tips ... I might use a night
light attached to a lamp module instead
since it is smaller and a little more
discreet.

I did remember seeing a thread sometime
back which explained the use of a
Powerflash Burgler Alarm interface and some
LEDs from www.smarthome.com. I just
couldn't find it. Anyhow, it described a
way to tell the user whether the alarm was
armed or disarmed.

Anyway, thanks for all your help guys. I
really appreciate it.

That link didnt work for me.I did find the
post mentioned. I'll cut.paste it here for you:

What you need are:
(1)    POWERFLASH Burglar Alarm Interface
(PF284)
(1)    LED Detector Probe from
http://www.smarthome.com/8013.html
It is really simple to put together, all
you do is trim the edges of the LED
Detector Probe until it is small enough to
not cover up any of the leds around the
armed led.  Then you stick the detector
probe on the Armed LED.  Be sure that it
sticks good and there is no light coming in
from around the edges.  Then you take the
end of the probe cord and connect it to a
powerflash unit.
The Powerflash must be setup for Mode 3,
Input as Dry Contact.  Then you set the
unit and house code dials to a light that
you can see from the outside or maybe you
could even set out a night light in a
window beside the door, either way on an
x10 module set to the same unit code and
house code as the powerflash unit.  For me
I use my front porch light.  Now whenever
your security system is armed whatever
light that you chose will turn on, and when
it is disamed will turn off.

Now you can leave your house with your mind
at rest because you now know that you are
protected.  Enjoy!
