Floodcam motion sensor
« on: August 15, 2004, 02:59:49 PM »

Does the floodcam motion sensor send rf
signals like the eagle eye? I have mine
mounted on my garage no more than 30' from
my vcr commander in line of sight. The only
obstruction is my bedroom window. I can not
get the vcr commander to learn the
floodcam's rf signal if it sends one. They
say the RF signals can go 100'. I have
found with my eagle eyes it is more like
20'. One of the reasons I purchased the
floodcam was because I don't like replacing
batteries on my eagle eye. Can anybody help
me out here please? Any info would be
greatly appreciated. THANK YOU:>)

I had some initial trouble programing my
VCR Commander to work with my floodcam at
first.  I have mine over my garage door,
and found the steel door along with the
bricks around the door interfered with the
setup even though they were only about 25
feet apart.  I moved the vcr cmdr into the
garage and followed the directions
closely...it is easy to mess up if you
aren't paying very close attention...and
once programed moved it back into the
office and everything was fine.  I found my
biggest problem with the setup was my not
paying close attention to the instructions
and some reason or other the setup distance
seems to be different than the operational
distance, IF that is possible.

Yes, the floodcams do send out RF signals.
The most distance I've had the commander
from the cam is about 30'.  If you have the
remote control, it is the easiest way to
program the commander.  After you hold down
the play button and the light goes solid,
press the button on the remote that is the
same as the one on the cam.  The light
should go out and you're done.  If you do
not have a remote, you could try moving the
commander to the garage as you mentioned and
move in front of the floodcam after the
light goes solid.  Make sure the floodcam
has had at least 30 seconds of inactivity
before doing this.  If the light goes out,
but the commander still does not activate
from the floodcam, reset the vcr codes by
holding down the pwr button untill it goes
solid, let it go and it should blink about
13 times.  Then reprogram the rec and stop
codes.  IF it still doesn't work, or it
records when the floodcam has not been
activated, you may have recorded a signal
from another cam or sensor nearby.
Remember, the commander will run off of 4 C
batteries so you can carry it around to help
in the programming instead of looking for an
outlet for the adapter in the garage or
wherever.

Swerve is right, the only way I could get
mine to work was with a remote and it only
has maybe 20-30 ft. worth of signal range, so
much for the 100ft range.

Anyone using iWitness with floodcam? I have
one about 25' and one about 40' away from the
PC with Active home and the new USB Interface
but I can't get the motion detector to switch
the camera modules from 'Go Live' to 'On Air'
any tips?
