"Problems with socket rocket..."
« on: January 22, 2005, 06:38:01 PM »

Having problems with the socket rocket
module.  The module works when plugged into
the outlet but when I screw the module into
ceiling light (kind you turn on by pulling
on a string -- not attached to a wall
switch) it doesn't work?!!  I've tried
changing the lightbulb, using a
transceiver, moving the module to another
ceiling light -- all FAILS.  Are those
ceiling lights that you pull a string to
turn on wired differently than one that is
wired to a wall switch???

They are wired like a conventional device.
Hot and neutral both go to the socket and
the switch connects them together through
the filament of the bulb.  A wall switch
breaks the hot wire, but the electricity
still goes through the filament to get to
the neutral wire.   The switch must be
left "pulled" into the on position at all
times.
