Active Home Pro to Sound Siren
« on: November 02, 2005, 08:00:05 PM »

I was wondering if it is possible to set up
a macro in active home pro to act as a
timer clock that would activate a siren for
a couple of seconds then shut off? I want
to have a break start/break end and lunch
start/lunch end buzzer in a factory so that
all the personnel are notified of the start
stop times. I've looked at the specificly
designed products available, but wondered
if this could be done less expensively with
x10 products?

The two Security Sirens. PH508 and SH10 need
a cycle of ON OFF signals on their address
or an All Lights ON All units off. maynot be
the best choice. The Chime Module kind of
ding dongs and can be triggered by a ON code
to it's address. Then again you can also use
a UM506 Universal Module that has a set of
contacts that could trigger an externaly low
voltage powered sounder. Don't know if the
X10 signals maybe a problem in a factory
setting as some equipment may make noise on
the power line.
