20 years ago, I bought my first x10 kit. 2 lamp modules,
1 wall switch, and a mini controller. Then when I was sure
the system worked, I purchased a timer.
As time went on, I continued expanding , a little at a time,
always making sure the system remained reliable.
It's now 20 years I've been using the X10 system.
I've got about 10 wall switches, 4 wall jacks, 4 lamp
modules, an appliance module, an additional mini-
controller, the sundowner controller, the security system,
3 cameras, vcr controller, 3 motion sensors, a repeater, a
pyramid remote control extender, several transceivers,
and am now configuring my G4 IMac computer to
interface with the X-10 system, with the intention of
monitoring and controlling my house, from anywhere I'm
able to connect my laptop to the internet. So far it's
giving me very positive results.
I've had one instance when I dealt with Tech Support.
While discussing the problem, with the tech, he realized
that I knew about electricity and electronics, and adapted
his interaction with me. We quickly arrived at the
conclusion, that indeed the companion wall switch was
defective. A few days later I received a new one.
Oh, by the way, I still have and use, the first mini-
controller, all yellow with age, the timer, with a broken
control door, and one of the brown lamp modules, ( the
other one failed) as well as the old wall switch...all still in
use, thank-you.
