Any way to get my ds7000 to talk to my
computer to tell it that the alarm has been

yes, depends on how good you are with
electronics.  you maybe able to tap into
the wiring from the LED's and then have a
microchip (for example PIC16F88) and MAX232
send a message to your com port on your PC.
should not be a big deal if you know how to
do some wiring and write a few lines
of .asm codes.

The DS7000 console itself cannot be
interfaced (to my knowledge) to any current
software applications; Along the lines of the
last post, I've heard of people using a light
sensor over the ARMED LED to detect when the
alarm is armed.  This information could be
relayed back to a HA controller or might
simply turn on an external light to inform
you that the alarm is armed as you approach.
This being said, the DS10a (and other)
sensors can be used with external HA gear...

An external RF receiver such as the W800RF32
is capable of receiving DS10A (or similar)
x10 security signals.  If you use a program
such as 'homeseer' and register each
door/window sensor with the W800RF32 plug-in
for homeseer then you will be able to create
events that take place when door/window
sensors are tripped.

The plug-in that allows your HA software to
interface with security sensors is free and
comes with a very basic 'software based'
alarm system.  There are a number of scripts
available that might allow someone to replace
the DS7000 console entirely with a software
alarm.  Note that this solution requires
considerable expense (RF receiver around $80,
homeseer software $150, compatible powerline
interface $30-$100)

If you want a dialer to call you and the
ability to listen is (as is provided by the
DS7000), that would likely require the
homeseer modem, custom scripting, etc.  One
can run the internal software based alarm and
the DS7000 concurrently; however, the two are
not aware of each other and could potentially
come out of sync.

On the positive side, it gives you complete
control of how the (software based) alarm
system behaves.  It would allow you to have a
completely 'silent'  alarm.  You could
integrate the alarm functions with all other
HA gear in the house and send emails, etc.
when the alarm is tripped.

Is not it better just throw DS7000 off, and
use CM-15A with provided software? CM-15A can
serve all X-10 devices directly, right? You
need PC only when you want to program it,
other than you enjoy Internet monitoring
remotely 7/24.
I see the drawback of CM-15a in its unability
to manage X10 cameras. All I need is to turn
some when alarm is tripped.

Its been a while since I orig posted and
scince then I have become quite facinated by
x-10 and become a little more proficient
with it. I now have cameras and more lamp
modules, motion sensors, wireless
trancievers and a cm11a.
I've banged together a web application for
me to change cameras & turn on and off some
lights but I'm a little stuck on receiving
from the ds7000 or the modules registered to
it (I haven't tried to hard yet though).
Woulden't a wireless tranceiver set to the
housecode of the ds7000 pick up the all
lights on all lights off cycle (the same one
that will cause the siren to go off) and I
can detect that with my cm11a to tell my
computer to txt message me
