Can I use the DS7000 with a DSL Internet
phone line only. I am wanting to go to cell
phone only and keep just my DSL Line with
Verizon. Will the DS7000 call out on that,
in the event of an intrusion? Thanks!

Does your setup have a phone connected to
the interface unit. One that gives a dial
tone and can be dialed?

I'm not sure what you mean. I have a box
that the DSL runs through. I plug a phone
line into it and then run an Ethernet phone
line from it to the computer. I still have
my basic phone line. I do not want to cancel
that until I know the security system will
work just having the DSL line (through the
phone company - Verizon)

Thanks George.....Do you know the answer to
my question?

Unfortunately, you cannot remove the POTS
line (regular dial tone service) from the
DSL package and still dial out from the DS
7000 security console.  When the DS7000
wants to dial out it goes off hook and needs
a dial tone line to connect a call.  DSL
requires a different protocol that passess
information (TCP/IP packets) through the
router and sends them across the internet.
You cannot get to a PSTN (telephone) network
unless you have VOIP and then there is a new
set of problems that the DS7000 is not made
to handle.  Sorry.

Thanks Iceblue! I sort of expected an answer
like that.....I was just hoping, I guess.
Again, thanks for taking the time to explain
the complexities!
