PR511 Detection to SC546A Chime?
« on: September 29, 2005, 06:39:44 AM »

I have a new PR511 security light that won't
"activate" a SC546A chime when motion is
detected. The light does activate other lamp
modules as it should and the chime will sound
when first plugged in or an "On" signal is
sent to the light by a controller.

I've tried setting the chime to the same
House and Unit code as the light per the
chime user manual. Also tried setting the
chime to the same Housecode as light with +4
Unitcode to match the light +4 sensor setting
to In.

Purchased both light and chime as bundle
direct from X10.

Thanx,
Bob

You may have a signal strenght or oposite
phase problem. Most homes are split phase
and the X10 signal on one phase [PR511] may
have a problem getting to the other phase
[chime module]. As a test try another outlet
for the chime as a test. Rough test for
phase problems is turn on a 220 volt
appliance like a stove dryer. Then agian try
the test. If it now works then you need a
phase coupler or use the chime in an outlet
that works. You may find an outlet where the
flodlight chimes and then the controller may
not.
