I live a little outside of town and there is
very little traffic to my place.  I want to
setup a motion detetor about 200-300 yards
from my home and want to be warned when a
vehicle is coming down the road.  I was also
thinking of rigging up a camera to record a
short amount of video to see who it is comming.

The range of _X10's motion sensors are 100
feet at best.  Also many report trouble with
motion sensors in an "uncontained" outside
environment.  Most people I have seen
messages from are opting for a hard cabled
(low voltage) metal detector system (search
google) for longer distance applications.
