motion sensor
« on: November 27, 2005, 10:01:06 AM »

i recently install an x-10 security system
and get a continuous beep when i try to arm
it. it seems to be the motion detector as
when i set it up it doesn't flash twice as
it says that it should. the door sensor
works but not the motion detectoer. The
sensor also doesn't blink  as you walk by?
i think that it is a bad sensor.. QAny
thoughts?

This is exactly what I have experience too.
Any expert could jump and and help, please?
Yes,  I have read the Setup guide many times and follow it all the way, still cannot get it to work.
When i want to test, pressing the TEST button, it blinks ONLy one time, not two.

The model of my motion sensor is MS10A.

Thanks

Try pressing the reset button on the back of the motion detector sometimes they stick you may have to press it numerous times but that should do the trick let me know if that worked.

Also be sure to use alkaline batteries and make sure you're within the specified range they say 100 feet try 75.

Try taking the batteries out, wait for a while, put the batteries back and then test.

Although I have played with the MS10A motion sensors and use them, I don't use them with the DS7000!
All my motion sensors are set in mode 1 and used with AHP.
The beeping from the DS7000 indicates a problem with the sensor (weak batteries maybe, bad sensor maybe)!
None of my MS10A sensors blink twice when setting or triggering, nor do I see that it should in the manual
Try repressing the code button on the back. If I remember correctly  ::), I had to do this a couple of times when playing with setting up the sensor (since removed) for the DS7000  at the cottage!
A point to remember these sensors are more heat sensors then motion, so Location can make a difference as to if it will see motion!
Moving towards the sensor is also less likely to cause a trigger then movement from side to side! ;)
