Thermostats Available that work with X10
« on: December 10, 2005, 08:14:09 AM »

I've just started to use X10 and have many
of my lights, outlets, etc working now.  I
would now like to buy an X10 Thermostat so
that I can control the heating/cooling in
my home.  I don't see a Thermostat
available from X10 and I'm wondering if
someone can recommend what I should buy to
accomplish this.  My preference would be to
get something I can control using the SW
from X10 that I currently use.

I don't know if you've seen this product or
not, but I just got an X10 thermostat
setback module.  You mount it below your
existing thermostat and plug it into an
appliance module, and it puts out a tiny
bit of heat to fool your thermostat.  It
uses only 2W I think.  I'm not getting as
big an effect as they claim.  I'm only
getting about 5 degrees setback with the
unit on "high", but that's about all I
wanted.  It may not be quite as useful, but
I think it's way more affordable than a
programmable thermostat.

You can get a cheap programmable thermostat
for under $50. But here is an example that
another x10 user made work for them:
