Toggle light
« on: October 05, 2004, 09:36:10 AM »

I will be upgrading my ActiveHome to
ActiveHome Pro in the next couple of days.
I am rethinking my macros and would like to
have one that blinks several lights but
them leaves them in their original state
(if my wife wants to get my attention while
putting the baby to bed.)  Unfortunately
there is no "toggle" option in the macro
builder.  I don't know if it is possible to
do this as the controller may not know the
state of a switch.  Is there any way to
work around this?

Thanks,

You'll be able to do this to a certain extent
using the conditional plug-in, since you can
base macro execution on the status of modules
in the house. If you're using X10 wall
switches and controlling them by hand,
though, you'll still run into problems
knowing the status of a module.

It seems as if this should be possible -
knowing the state of the switch is not
necessary - you simply need to have fine
resolution for the macro delays (5 seconds,
for example). The worst case is that you
turn a light on that is already on for 5
seconds and then off for 5 seconds, etc.
