James:  The only reason I can think of that
the CM15a would lock up with a WS12A and a
WS467 but not with a lamp module is that it
is related to the wall switches going crazy
when they don’t have enough power.

SmartHome makes switches in both Decora and
toggle style that “should” work with
dimmable CFLs since they require a neutral
wire.  I haven’t tried them though.  I
wouldn’t hold my breath on X10 making a
switch that will work with dimmable CFLs.

If you are ambitious, there are articles on
the web describing how to modify a WS to
use a neutral wire.  This will void the
warranty and the safety certification
though.

Roger H: Thanks for the netural wire info.
It will be interesting to research this and
see if anyone has tried the SmartHome
netural wire switch with the CFLs.

James S.

Has anyone tried the XPD13 X10 Pro Inductive
Dimming Wall Switch on the dimmable CFLs?
From what I read it has the netural wire.
Could this switch be the solution to
replacing the short-life hot incandescent
bulb with CFLs?

James:  Thanks for pointing out the XPDI3.
I haven’t tried it before, but it looks
like it would be a good option for use with
dimmable CFLs.
