Capture Device
« on: April 16, 2005, 04:28:27 PM »

Hi all,

I have two different capture devices on my
computer. One is a wiz-bang tuner / video
input and the other is the VA11A.

I have some video editing software that
actually lets me choose between the capture
devices. They both work fine, I can capture
video with both.

My reason for asking this question is that
the VA11A is a relatively poor quality
device. I had trouble recognizing me comming
home this morning with the VA11A pix. The
other capture device did a much better job
but is not supported by X10 commands.

Hmm? Someting to think about.

I have both x10 'Wide Eye' wireless and a
brand-x 1.2 GHZ wireless with IR night
illuminators. the brand-x has 380 lines of
resolution and is slightly better in video
quality than the X10. I like it so much that
I ordered another one this weekend.

I can turn the cameras on and off OK with
X10 commands. I use an X10 appliance module
to swith my 9 volt camera 1.2GHZ.

Since both cameras have much better video
quality when viewed through my Hauppauge PVR
hardware I thought It would be a great
luxury to be able to trigger a PVR capture
on an X10 command.

I have a third party editor (Ulead) that
recognizes both capture devices. That is
what I used to compare capture quality.
