PRO Remote Chime doesn't work
« on: December 24, 2005, 05:59:01 AM »

The PRO remote chime PSH02 will not program
in Active Home Pro.  It is different from
the Ppowerhouse SC546A Chime because it has
3 modes:
An Alarm mode triggered with on/off/on
A Ding triggered with a single bright
A Dong triggered with a single dim

The module listed is the PHH02?  I don't
believe that is a good number.  What is
available on it is is on and off and that
is useless.  I have tried installing it as
a lamp module and using bright and dim
commands but it doesn't respond as easily
as it seems.  It simply needs to be set up
properly in AHP so all 3 functions are
available.

The PSH02 is a security type module so I am
not surprised AHP doesn't support it
directly. The X10 SH10A is the same as the
PSH02 so if that is listed in AHP try that.
The siren sounds need an ON OFF code at a 1
second interval. Like if the module is on
A12. Send an A12 On; 1 second delay; A12
Off; 1 second delay. Repeat the sequence.
After about 4 cycles it will trigger and
keep sounding for about 4 seconds after the
sequence stops.
For the Ding Dong. Send an A12 On or A12 Off
then the bright or dim commands.
I have triggered both the smaller SH10A and
Big Brother PH508 with a hand remote by
sending the proper commands. The PH508
doesn't do the ding dong just the VERY LOUD
warble chirps!

A few points I may have missed.
The PSH02 and SH10A are siren modules not a
chime module. When triggered they are VERY
loud. Both in my opinion sound like a
cricket on speed.

The X10Pro PHH02 and X10 SC546 are chime
modules. Both have a plesent chime routine.

So you are correct. The PSH02 is not the
same as the X10 SC546. It is the same as the
X10 SH10A.

Brian,
I have the PSH02 and the SC546A:

The PSH02 sounds the siren when the
alternating on/off is sent on it's unit
code or [all off] and [all lights on] are
sent repeatedly as you suggested.... BUT it
also does a pleasant ding or dong when a
single unit code [on] OR [off] is sent
followed by a [bright] or [dim] command.

The SC546A only plays a 6 note routine when
the proper unit/house code is sent.

My point of this posting is that PHH02 icon
correctly operates the SC546A but there is
no GOOD way to operated the PSH02 from
within the AHP environment.

Right. It is a security module and not
inteneded to be used with AHP.

I wonder if someone that knows macros. Could
write a macro that sends the single On code
to the module and then send a string of dim
or bright. Maybe just a bright or dim. If
memory serves me X10 on a dim goes full
bright then back down.

I have the PSH02 and include it in some
macros to indicate start and end of the
macro with Ding & Dong. I also include it
in a macro triggered by a motion sensor to
do 4 Dings if someone comes up the walk or
enters the garage.
To get it to work correctly, I set it up as
an Leviton Wall Switch (6381)
Setting for Ding:
Brighten 11%
Setting for Dong:
Dim 11%
Setting for 4 Dings:
Brighten 31%

Works Great!

SkyGod; That sounds like a great solution. I
knwe someone would find a way to send the
needed dims.
