The power company that serves the area in
which we do business is in the process of
installing electric meters for automatic
reading from their central station. This
change is messing up our security
installations where we use X10 outlet
modules (SR227), powerflash interfaces
(PF284), chimes (SC546A), etc.. We have
tried using the filter (PZZ01), it is not
effective. I think they may be using
pulses on their carrier and not RF bursts
at the 60Hz zero crossing as does X10.
Therefore, the filter (PZZ01) is not
effective. All of the people I have been
able to talk to about this at the power
company don’t know what they have since an
outside vendor installed the AMR’s. I’m
not an electrical engineer and am at a loss
as to how to combat this problem. I’m
hoping someone out there has experienced
this problem and found a solution they are
willing to pass on to us.
