cable lengths & multiple receivers
« on: March 11, 2006, 12:43:59 PM »

I'd like to know if anyone has any experience extending the length of the cable between the addressable power supply's and the cameras.  How long can the cable be before the cameras receive too little voltage.

Also, has anyone used two (2) camera signal receivers Y jacked into a monitor or USB converter?

Any insight will be appreciated.

I have tried using a 20 foot extension with no problems. This was with a camera mounted on the Pan and Tilt base. The cable was nothing special just something from Radio Shack. It worked fine for the short time I tried it. I had planed on mounting the camera some distance from a power source but have never gotten around to it.

Y jack will work as long as one camera is turned off when the other one is on. AHP can do this within a macro to make sure.

ussually you dont get any voltage drop within 35ft after 50ft a cable could reduce, not sure about X10 cameras length.
try 100+ out and let me know ;)
