Installing WS 477
« on: March 30, 2006, 11:46:35 PM »

I would like to install a WS 477 in place of a standard single pole switch.  Does anyone know which two wires on the WS477 to connect to my wiring?

Thanks

I tried either wire on the switch and works perfectly. It shouldn't really matter which side is connect. The only thing, noticed is there wasn't a connection on the switch for the ground wire.

Optimally the Black wire should go to the live (hot) wire in the box and the blue wire should go to the load.  If you connect it the other way around it will probably still work, but it might not be quite as reliable.  Even connected properly the dimmer wall switches are the least reliable of the X10 brand of modules since there is no neutral wire connection.  The fact that there isn't a ground wire connection doesn't matter since the metal plate is electrically isolated.
