Help please, simple change messes up other things.
« on: April 02, 2006, 08:50:49 AM »

Changed to 3.203 from 3.202 and deleted a timer that reset flags at 3am, couldn't get it working right. I went back to the previous version with the timer entry back in and it works now with 3.203!? I did the download to 3.203 and deleted the timer on Saturday morning and didn't have time to check it out but I noticed strange operation like lights not going on, not all lights in a sequence going on, sometimes the chime working or not.

X10Pro, I can e-mail you the two .ahp files so you can compare them and see where the problem is. The functioning file has two timers, one to reset flags at 3am and another timer to turn on/off a light at night/day. I did a file compare and there are only two places where the files are different.
<timers> has the deleted timer entry removed and the "Lastmodified" entry for the remaining timer was changed.
<data has these fields modified; ts, macromemory, timermemory, freememory & delay_override.

I did the full sequence when reloading of unplugging, removing batteries, etc... and also tried it three times before I gave up and restored the previous version.
I sure hope you guys can find something because right now if I want to change my programming I'm afraid that it will stop working like it just did by simply removing a timer, that's it. I won't change anything right now unless I have time for a huge debugging session which like yesterday ended up going back and not getting the change I wanted implemented. Fortunately I kept the previous version and didn't overwrite it.

(p.s. I did do a save and download multiple times, someone mentioned a notice to download is not being put up)

Thanks for your help,
Emil

Just wondering how it's going? Did you find anything or even get a chance to look at it?
Thanks!

Update:
I'm pretty reluctant to change anything but I did try another minor change to my presently working program. After one chime activation I added a 5 sec delay and activated it again. It's all still working!
I'm thinking the some problems lie in the downloading and not in the actual programming.

To anyone making any changes I suggest you keep a copy of your old working program so you can determine where the problem actually is if you encounter one.
