UPS-Unswitched power supply and X10?
« on: April 29, 2006, 02:07:52 PM »

Does the X10 signal pass through a Unswitched Power Supply?
I intend to plug a GE Concord 4 Control Panel, which is X10 ready, into a UPS device.

No.
In fact my APC BX1000 has a surge and noise suppression circuit in it; that sucks up X10 signals when plugged into any close outlet to the controller. I had to add an X10 type filter to the UPS AC Input before my X10 system became reliable again.

Another problem maybe when on battery backup. The waveform from the inverter may not be a sine wave and can possible damage any module connected to it; if it uses the powerline derived type supply. I fried a TM751 when testing for an answer here with an UPS when on battery backup. A power transformer type [cm15a] supply maybe more tolerant of such a a waveform. Though the Zero Crossing Sensor may not time the X10 signals correctly on battery.
