Apprears to be an early trend taking place.  :)

Just say "NO" to pop ups........     Click the "X".

Friends don't let friends use pop ups.  ;)[/i]

I thought the new forums would be better. In some ways they are, but now the good old popups are back. Shame on you X10 >:(

I find all these "cute" moving messages some posters have running across the screen at least as annoying as the popups.

As one of the posters with a "cute" moving message in my signature, you have my apologies if mine bothers you. My latest commentary  regarding pop ups being web spam will disappear when the pop ups do.

Unlike the pop ups, you can turn off the display of signatures.

It sounds like the pop ups have taken a turn for the worst. Now the d*** things are talking to me.
Pop up ads are not a good thing for this site or any site for that matter. Making them talk is even worse!

Are people actually clicking on these pop ups? Is X10 making any sales in exchange for antagonizing those of us here on the forums that are actually helping and responding to the problems of the people here?

I don't care how increadable the offer is. I will not respond to those pop up ads.
For God's sake at least silence them and have them timeout after a few seconds. Better yet if they have to have an ad link on a support forum, how about a small icon as part of the top of the page? These pop ups that continue to block the lower left of the page till you "click the x" are not acceptable for a support forum. If I want to buy something from X10, I'll go to the site for that.

Hmmm... I didn't get any popups on this forum today.  Could it be that the X-10 brass is paying attention to the complaints?

Nah, more likely their popup server is on the fritz. :-)

They're still here. I bet if you exit out of all your forum windows and return they'll be back for you too.

I found if you click on an email link you don't get the pop-up but if you come here directly you get it! Thats the only time I now come to the form site. Sorry X10! Your going to lose some good free help from many users!
There are other places to find help.

Doesn't seem to matter how I get to these forums I still get the annoying talking pop up.  :'( :'( :'(

As for pop ups on X10.COM, I no longer go their. The pop ups have driven me to find other sources for home automation items. If they continue on these forums I will no longer participate.

It is interesting to note that while there have only been a few people to respond to this pole, clearly everyone that has responded to this pole is against these pop up ads. It is also note worthy that the people who have responded to this pole and posted here are the backbone of the online forum support team. Many of us have been using X10 products since before personal computers were around. Some have technical backgrounds that I'm sure would challenge the team at X10. All of us have experience that we're willing to share for free. It should be clear that you've already driven us away from the X10 site for our shopping. Do you really want to shoot yourself in the other foot and drive us away here with these insulting pop ups?

I wonder how these forums would survive it we all were to not login for a week with our support help.

What mentality are you aiming at with these pop ups? They're like screaming car ads.

Again I ask... Are people actually clicking on these pop ups and is it worth antagonizing us?
