AHP and All Lights on
« on: August 08, 2006, 12:10:17 PM »

Hi all, Most of my x10 lighting is on channel A.
Well every two weeks or so the interface decides to do an all lights on usually in the middle of the night.
Is there a way to disable the all light on command?
My PC is usually off during the night so I don't see anything in my log files.
Not sure why it wants to light everything up but it does. Happend twice last night and I was not in the
mood to fire up the PC so I just unplugged the interface till this morning.
Any suggestions?

There can be any number of reasons for a "ghost command" such as your "All Lights On". First, do you have any motion detectors?
Any macros that have an "All Lights On" command in them?
Are you using AHP? If so leave the program running and see if the activity monitor records the "All Lights On" command. Sometimes you can have a "ghost command" that is not recorded by AHP. Those are a bit harder to isolate. An independent CM15A or old CM11A can be of help in those cases. It's unlikely for line noise to be the problem. Noise generally blocks or weakens a signal.
Keep a log of when it happens as well as any unusual activities at the time.
Use "Find other Computers" to see if a neighbor is using HC "A".
Send a few "All Lights On" & "All Units Off" yourself. This will flush out any neighbors using X10.
Worst case switch to another HC. Motion detectors sometimes default to "A" as batteries are failing.

I have one motion detector (fresh batteries) and no macros that contain the all on command.
Software is AHP and I will start monitoring the log files over night and check for neighboring x10 signals.
Normally in my log files there is nothing out of the ordinary so I'm thinking signals from neighbors are not an issue.

Did you set the motion sensor to another House Code or Unit Code? Default is A1 and A2 for dusk dawn detection if the model you have does dusk dawn. Actually Dusk Dawn is one unit code up from the motion address.
As a test you could also disable House Code A being tranceived in AHP.

The motion detector is on H so I think that would be OK.
I will try disabling the tranceived code also.
I would like to thank all of you for your ideas and feedback.

I recall a couple of mid-night wakeup calls with the CM11A years ago, and learned to always clear the memory before downloading a program update.  You might try that if it is not already part of your proceedure.

Oooops, looks like I forgot about a motion detector.
Last night it all went crazy again and after checking the activity monitor all I saw
was that sensor... Pulled the batteries and all was good.
In 4 years never had crazy things like this happen with weak batteries...
Again thanks to EVERYONE...
