Title: Protector Plus Zones
Post by: medlas on September 07, 2006, 04:56:42 PM
Hi,

I have the Protector Plus system with 8 door/window sensors and 8 motion sensors. Where this system has 16 zones I'm wondering if registering 1 handheld remote and 4 key chain remotes will cut my available zones from 16 to 11.

Many Thanks,
Ray

;D The short answer is no.
;D The long answer is. You can add up to 16 Security remotes, in addition you can use any number of Automation remotes such as the Palm Pad. The Automation remotes can control up to 16 modules that are set to the same house code.
So, in essence you can use the Protector Plus (Transceiver) to not only receive signals from door/window sensors and motion detectors but also with 16 Security remotes, any number of Automation remotes and 16 modules, with the Protector Plus, Automation remotes and modules all set to the same house code.
For further information, see. http://kbase.x10.com/wiki/Protector_Plus_Wireless_Voice_Dialer_Security_System
Hope this was helpful.  ;D ;D ;D

Was my original reply ambiguous?!?  Shocked  Roll Eyes

It wasn't in red letters 1 inch high  so we all thought you really weren't sure about it.

Hmmm. No smilie anywhere in your reply. Does this mean that you're serious?

P.S. I thought that I'd cut back a bit on some of the "formatting"...

No, I wasn't serious.

However it looked like you took it as an affront that others seconded your opinion, as if your word alone wasn't good enough.

None whatsoever!  [I used similies!!! (You did not.  :-[ ) See how hard it is to detect the poster's emotion without colors and formatting?  ;) ]

Smilies can be overdone, and they're frequently used to hide behind - make a statement but when challenged say it wasn't really serious.
Rightly or wrongly, I think that's how I viewed your post.

I ask you to ask yourself. What kind of answer is "NO" without any explanation ?
Did the person asking the question learn ANYTHING ? Were they encouraged in any way ? Were they directed to where they could find the answer ? Was the answer "NO" helpful in any way ?  >:(

To be fair, TTA's answer was really all that the OP needed.  I assume he didn't want to face  the hassle of reregistering all his security sensors from scratch if adding the remote mucked things up.

It was good of you to flesh out the same answer with more details, and I for one (not owning a security console) learned something.

TTA's posts come across as a little brash at times - sometimes ambiguous with the smilies.   Occasionally I get the urge to call him up on it.  But he's a good guy, very knowledgeable, and puts a lot of effort into this forum.   So don't beat on him too hard.  (An occasional little beating is OK   8) )
