There used to be a Canadian x10 Warehouse in Mississauga, Ontario. I called x10 to place an order and they said it has been closed down???? Is this true, and if so, what the hey happened? This is a real bummer!! :'(

Possibly consolidation to save money. Could be a bad sign.

It's impossible to guess.
Warehousing has always been a large and wasteful expense. A warehouse in Canada... storing Chinese made merchantice.. sounds (to me) like throwing money into the wind.
Current conditions has China sitting on a huge surplus of manufacturing capabilities. This would be an excellent time NOT to warehouse... OR to negotiate for new upgrades and/or devices to the X10 line. But where would X10 get the front money? Since purchasing of [Chinese] products are down... China doesn't have the money to buy U.S. Securities (notes). The U.S. Government has been giving banks money (at 0 % interest) only to borrow it back by forcing banks to buy U.S. securities (at 3.75%). This has made banks (appear) profitable.... but has sucked every Penny out of the market place.
....... Could be a bad sign.
I think it is a bad sign.... but not necessarily for X10.

Guess thats why it now takes over a week for a shippment to arrive! ::) :'
It use to be here next day. rofl

Gee I have not ordered anything lately. Mine use to ship from New Jersey and get here in a day. Wounder if NJ is still a shipping point?
-
With many Chinese places offering free shipping, I suspect it won't be long till all our stuff gets shipped directly from there!

Brian H,
My last batch of Wacky Lamp Modules came from the NJ warehouse. Shipped FedEx to Grove City, Ohio (approx. 80 miles to my north) took 48 hours to get to Grove City.
Grove City then dropped it into the USPS system and it took a week to get the last 80 miles.

Hey Tuicemen, are you Canadian? If so, let's hear it for us >! :)%
Are you serious though, that it'll take like 2 weeks for delivery? Oh no ! :-\

My last package also hung around in Grove City for some time. Grove City must be a nice place to visit... if you have lots of free time.

Yes, bad for shipping the product to the consumer in a timely manner and, I wonder what happened to the people who worked there?

I'm pretty sure he is. There are Canadian flags on his site if I recall correctly.
Good guy too btw.

My first order is coming from NJ. It has taken 7 business days so far and it has now been transferred from FedEx truck to the mail system for delivery! The estimate is for delivery in 3-5 more business days. There may not be a second order.

If you get it in 2 weeks, this time of year I'd be surprised! ::) :'

It'll be interesting to see how long it takes. My order is apparently coming from NJ, and Canada Post can only confirm an electronic submission at this point, but nothing else.
Geez, the Canadian dollar will probably be at par by the time I get my order. (I knew I shoulda waited!)
But Tuicemen, speaking of Canadian, shouldn't those little M&M's have a maple leaf on them somewhere? (I'm just kidding). Where abouts geographically do you live, Tuicemen? East, West, etc?

Glad to meet you, neighbour! >!

Its been a while since I've placed an order from X10.
The Canadian warehouse was always fast thou, 2 day tops.
But I do have one very nice advantage for being in Canada but yet living south of the US border.
That is made possible by living directly south across the river from Detroit, MI., even had lived in MI for a doz years back in the 90's.
My wife and I cross the border on a regular bases.
So what is sweet for me I get to choose the better deal and if its Canadian based then it gets delivered directly to the home or business.
But if it's US based then delivery is made to my wife's family in MI. and its just a short drive to pick it up,
but then I have to get it back across the border without being caught :' just so as to avoid duties and our long list of abbreviated and inflated taxes.
I get the to enjoy the best of both countries. :)%

You mean the Mississauga warehouse got your x10 stuff to Windsor in 2 days? That's remarkable.
I think though that the Canadian warehouse is still functioning, at least that's what Canada Post told me when I called to inquire about my recent x10 order. They told me my order was being processed from a warehouse in Mississauga?? ???

AARTECH seems to be supplying the equipment fom X10 now. They are in Toronto, On.
I just got the Vanguard software and PC USB connetor etc.

Aartech doesn't sell x10 cameras on it's website, so I don't think it's aartech that's the supplier. How do you like vanguard and the adapter?
-
I believe Aartech is an authorized dealer. Like some of the vendors on EBay and dealers like Smarthome and Automated Outlet.

OK maybe it's selling some x10 products, but it's a separate company from x10. When you order from the x10 company, the order is not coming from aartech. It's coming from x10. I'm still wondering though, if x10 still has some kind of warehouse in Canada, because my last order had a return address from etobicoke, ontario.....not New Jersey as I was expecting!
-
birdzeye, Sure sounds like they still have somethings going on in Canada.

Yeah, I guess they do still have a warehouse in Canada....so then, why all the secrecy at x10 order desk? Like, why would they be telling me the order is coming from New Jersey when it's obvious from the return address on the package that it's coming from Toronto? Makes it confusing to try and track an order.

Thanks for the plug again, melion, but AARtech doesn't have x10 cameras and their prices are kinda high, considering what you can get from x10.
I still want to know where my order came from. Who's running this Etobicoke address? It's not AARtech, I know that much.

Just ordered from X10 for the first time in years ( a decade ? ).
The package was ordered Sat. evening online and arrived in Ottawa ( from Etobicoke, ON ) on Fri.
The bizarre thing was I got a phone call from somebody at X10 Monday evening confirming the order. I asked if there was a problem with my credit card , and he said that he was "just checking" if I had any questions, and that the order had already shipped. When I told him I found a better offer shortly after placing the order he said they had a "30 day price protection program" and he'd forward me to a customer service agent to help me ( my question would be then: who the heck are you, exactly ? ). After explaining what I wanted ( an additional module ) several times to the 2nd agent I gave up and will try via email.
I'm puzzled what the point of the phone call was ( the order had already shipped and he didn't try to upsell me ). Is this a Canadian thing only? Maybe I checked the wrong box on the web form... Hmmm...

I just ordered one of the resent deals (arrived Friday) and never got a phone call. ???

Do you want one? It's probably because they know you, Tuicemen. What did you get?
