Title: 15W siren to an lm465
Post by: sku11ey on March 07, 2011, 12:14:59 AM
Any one see any issue with connecting a 15W siren to an lm465 via 12v 300ma adapter?
It seems to work, though Ive only tried panic and all lights on for few seconds at a time. I didn't want to listen until it cycled off.
Is their a better way to power a 3rd party siren?

15W?
12V X .3A {300ma} =3.6W of power available.
Have you tried it for awhile to see how the supply holds up when powered directly from the wall outlet?

Using a dimming module to drive a power supply can lead to problems.
Even at 100% On. The AC to the wall supply is slightly modified and some here have had short lives on supplies driven by a lamp module.
If the LM465 is soft start. The supply will be ramped On and Off at least one time. Before the rapid On Off cycle starts.
If it is an early soft start LM465. It will see a ramp On and Off all the time.
