Title: Remote functions
Post by: george on April 05, 2005, 07:18:58 AM
I just installed a RadioShack 49-1000 which
of course is an X-10 system. I am very
satisfied with it but the manual is not very
informative. I hope someone will answer a
few questions.

1: When an alarm is answered by the notified
party and that party presses a key
to “listen in”, can that party use the “9,9”
functions at that time to control the
system, or must a new call be initiated?
2: If the internal siren had been set to on,
will it automatically turn off when the call
is answered so the party can “listen in” or
must he use the 9,9, function to disarm the
system?
3: If the alarm was triggered by a motion
sensor (or a door that was opened and
CLOSED) can the system be reset remotely by
arming, disarming, and then arming again?
4: Under what conditions is the troubled
zone status be reset on the console?

Many thanks, George

The answer to 2 is yes, the internal alarm
goes silent so the person who is called can
listen in.

When my DS7000 calls my cell phone after
being activated, I have too hit 0 twice to
silence the internal chimes. Cell phone has
to be set for its key to "tone" to work, not
clicks. I found this out the hard way. Trial
and error.
