Title: New sign up
Post by: john hester on September 07, 2005, 07:02:58 PM
I just signed up for your contractor
program as an installer (electrician). Am I
to be listed on your web site as a source
for customers to contact?

John,
Congratulations and welcome to the X10
Contractor Program!
This program is free and signing up takes
only minutes. But knowing what kind of
contractor you are is different from listing
your business on the X10 Installer Search.
This program costs $12 a year and takes 24
hours to process your registration.
Copy/paste the url below to get to the sign-
up page:

Kelly,
I went to the url you indicated in your 1st
message, completed all the information,
clicked submit, and then a message appeared
which said "this page cannot be displayed".
I tried it twice. Please advise. Thank you

Kelly,

I signed up for the Contractor program a
couple of weeks ago. Whenever I type in my
information, I get in, but it tells me that I
am not logged in:"You Are Not Logged In.
Please Click Here To Sign In."
Also, I tried to sign up for the Installer
program, but after I entered all the
information I went back to add my URL and
when I clicked on "Continue" again it told me
the information was already in the database.
I haven't paid the $12 fee yet, but I can't
go back and pay it now as the system won't
let me. Is there a number I can call to talk
to someone?
Thanks,

JTA,
IntelliHouse Solutions

Hi Kelly,
It worked. Thanks. I'm assuming now that my
name will be listed as an installer on your
web site. Question, why do they charge
shipping for this? What are they shipping?

Kelly,
I need your help. As you know, I just
recently signed up for your contractor's
program, and have paid my $12 fee to be
listed (which I am). I have already
received 2 calls, both approximately 60
miles away. My problem is that I have yet
to receive any formal training on the
product line, so I declined both because
they were so far away, and I am not yet
knowledgeable in the solution/products. I
felt that if there were problems they would
be magnified because of the distance
involved. This is not my goal to turn down
this new business, but I do not have the
confidence/comfort level that I need to go
that far. I have ordered a design manual,
which apparently won't be available until
October, and have talked to the factory guy
in California who won't help. I tried to
call Brian at 800 675 3044 x 2616 (Seattle
X10 office) to get his input. The phone
system must be broken, because I could
never get through.
Bottom line: I need some training, and I
need it right away. How about a 2 day
formal hands on training class somewhere?
Please advise. Thanks
John Hester

I signed up for the Installer Program and
paid my fee. It's about a week now, I have

John Hester,
Your 2-day hands-on training idea is a great addition to
the online certification testing under develeopment. Until
we get that program going, X10 has several resources on
our site:

Set-up instructions
http://www.x10.com/instructions/

Technical Support
http://www.x10.com/support/technical_support.
htm

Knowledge Base
http://www.x10.com/kbase/

Beyond that, there are some free downloadable training
files on x10pro.com - I have downloaded them, they are
MS Powerpoint files and go beyond some of the links
above.

I will check into Bryan's phone number and call you
directly when that issue is resolved.

Momeh,
Please read the training thread below. Also, our
programmers are checking on your listing. Please email
me your zip using the same email that you used to
register. kellyp@x10.com

Jacobo,

If you are programming your own web pages, just ad http:
//www.x10.com to the specified text that will contain the
href link. If you want a link to a product specific page, go
to that page in your browser, click on the x10 logo in the
url field, and paste it into your html page just as you
would with the link mentioned in the previous sentence.

If you need further instruction, please email me at
kellyp@x10.com.

Kelly,
I think a 2 day class is an outstanding
idea, let me know when it is available,
I'll be the first to sign up. Also, your
link
http://www.x10.com/support/technical_support
does not work properly. It keeps directing
me to your home page (advertisements).

John,
Scroll down to the bottom of the advertisment page and
click on "continue to X10 home page". Once you get to
X10 home, click on the support tab. Bookmark the
support url because from this page you will find a wealth
of information about our products, including the tech
support center link.

Are you looking for an installer or did you
want to inquire about being one for X10?
