Radio Shack 49-1000 "LOW BATT 3" Display
« on: November 23, 2008, 10:55:52 AM »

:-[ I have the RS 49-1000 wireless alarm system. It has been working fine for 3 years. The other day I came home and it read "LOW BATT 3" . Never seen this before. It usually does this when I disarm it with the remote. I only have 2 zones on my system so I don't understand where the 3 comes in. My pin doesn't work when this happens. I disconnect the power, and remove the batteries out. I then replace the batteries, and replace the power cord. The display then reads "tamper" which is what I would expect. Then my pin will work. Then the next time I have it armed for a several hour period, and then disarm it with the remote I get the "LOW BATT 3" message again. I have never replaced the battery in the remote, but I am not sure why that would cause this to happen.

I was just wondering if anyone else has had this issue or could shed some light on this before I replace it?

Another question would be: Are the X10 systems any more reliable than the radio shack units?

Thanks

You may want to try a set of batteries in the remote. Also have you ever changed the batteries in the wireless door and motion sensors?

I have changed the batteries in both sensors, and the main unit. I have not changed them in the remote yet, and that is going to be the next thing. The batteries in the remote check out fine!

Any other suggestions?
