I'm getting a nice clear picture from my Vanguard camera. but it's in black and white not color like it should be. Wha' happen'd??

Are you using the wireless receiver or the optional hard wired video cable method?
Are you using a VA12A to display the video on a computer or a composite video input maybe on a TV?

The X10 Knowledgebase has a whole section on the Vanguard Camera. Maybe some tips there.

Boomer, give us a clue: did it ever have color? In other words, could it be bad out of the box?

Yes, it had color out of the box.
I'm using a hard wire arrangement with the VA12A
I've checked the Knowledge base, but I'll look again.

Is there anyway to check the composite feed directly out of the camera? Or at the input of the VA12A? (You will need a TV with video inputs, or feed to a VCR for a few seconds then play back on TV)

If it is B&W there you probably have a camera failure.

The camera appears to be good. I've used it with Blue Iros and Argus software and got color from both. I thought maybe the video adapter (V12a?) was bad. I happened to have a spare so I tried that and still no color. Now I'm thinking its somehitng in the ICC software.

Brian H

Do you know what version ICC you are using?

erniejt

It's the latest being offered on the download center page.
BTW, just for giggles I also tried the Sentinel software with the same results.
Vanguard ICC and Sentinel ICC ARE supposed to be in color aren't they?

erniejt

BTW #2, I have totally removed and re-installed both Vanguard and Sentinel twice! Black & White still!

erniejt

I think I found the cure!!!
I've been running under Windows 7 64 bit. I was reading about all the problems people are having when they combine the VA15A with Win7 64 bit, so I replaced 64 with 32 and BINGO!!  I have color again!!

erniejt

OOOPS! I meant VA12a not va15a. (hopefully you knew what I meant anyway)
