Unit Codes and Wireless devices
« on: November 09, 2008, 12:46:08 PM »

I Purchased the following setup
8 - DS10A -DOOR\WINDOW SENSOR
4 - PH508 -LARGE POWERHORN
1 - CR12A -CAMERA REMOTE
2 - KR10A -KEYCHAIN REMOTE
1 - SH624 -SECURITY REMOTE CONTROL
1 - TM751 -WIRELESS TRANSCEIVER
1 - VR42A -AUDIO\VIDEO RECEIVER
3 - XX20A -WIRELESS LOW-LIGHT CAMERA
1 - PS561 -VOICE DIALER CONSOLE (DS7000 )
5 - MS16A -ACTIVE EYE MOTION SENSOR (OUTDOOR)
1 - UX23A -VCR COMMANDER ll

First everyting that I have installed is working. (haven't hooked up the vcr commander and active eye yet.)

now here is my question.. (just with the camera setup)
I had everything on House code  A
camera's and door\window sensors and it's all working BUT after doing some reading on here I decided
to put the cameras on house code C , so I switched all 4 cameras and the (VR42A) audio\video receiver and the (TM751) wireless transceiver to
house code C and nothing worked!
I switched the (VR42A) audio\video receiver back to house code A and left the cameras and the (TM751) transceiver on house code C
and now all the cameras work again. (by work i mean i can view it on my tv)

Shouldn't I have to have all the camera's and receiver's on the same house code ???

...I switched the (VR42A) audio\video receiver back to house code A
[/size]

The A, B, C, D, setting on the (VR42A) audio\video receiver..... ISN'T part of a House/Unit code. That switch... controls the  audio\video broadcast channel. There is a similar switch on the wireless camera (the camera itself... NOT the one on the power supply) under the little rubber plug thingy.

The wireless cameras... and the audio\video receiver(s) must be set on the same letter code as each other. The broadcast  audio\video letter code used is a different frequency as the remote controls.

  • Power supply codes = House/Unit codes
  • Camera and Receiver mounted codes = 2.4 GHz Audio/Video Broadcast codes

Whereas the Camera and Receiver mounted codes can be set independent of the House/Unit Codes... the Audio/Video Broadcast codes on the Wireless Cameras and Video Receiver MUST match each other.

As an example: You can have your cameras set (at the plug-in wall-wart) to House/Unit A-1, A-2, A-3.... and control those with PalmPad or similar remote. Then (under the little rubber plug on the cameras) you could set the Audio/Video broadcast channel to D. You must be sure to then set the Audio/Video broadcast channel on the receiver to D also.

Thanks for the fast reply DAVE!

so only thing I need to set on the camera's is the 1,2,3,4
I have those set right I guess because the remote does switch between the 4 camera's
thanks again for clearing that up for me.

I'm going to start playing with the Active eye motion sensor's and the VCR commander ll
I want to add a motion sensor for each camera to record only if there is motion

I think X10 invented the "record only the action" concept. It's pretty cool.

Remember that the MS16A can send a On at Dusk and an Off at Dawn on the Motion Address plus 1 Unit code. So if you use A1 for motion; A2 will be dusk and dawn.
I believe that model can be set to disable that feature. If not you will be steeping on one of the camera on of addresses as they need to be on the same House Code and Units 1-4; 5-8; 9-12 or 13-16.

Thanks for the tip Brian.
I have motion lights on the house now, I want the MS16A to just record any movement night or day
The lights on the house Will come on and provide the light that is needed at night.
So I will disable the dusk and dawn.
I have read the instruction once but you know how that is... I will read and re-read before getting them and the commander installed

Yea I think it will be very cool to just have to review a little tape instead of 8 hours of tape
