Remodeled house, Need new double stick pads for sensors
« on: December 21, 2010, 01:39:29 AM »

I just had my house repainted so I had to remove all the door and window sensors.  How can I get new double sided sticky pads to remount them? I could find nothing in the knowledgebase or elsewhere for such information.. Does X10 send the replacements, can I order them? Please advise quickly so I don't get robbed :-[
Thanks,
Mike

Usually when you buy them, they come with a couple extras in the box...but I've found them to separate from the actual magnets after a while anyway, which I've had to fix with superglue...I would suggest just buying a role of double sided sticky padded tape from either a hardware store or office supply store and cutting it to size with an exacto knife

Hmmm... an 8 hour echo...

Anyways, as Brandt has mentioned, I too originally had issues with the two-way tape drying out and causing false alarms when the sensors fall. For the past 3+ years I have been using adhesive velcro instead of tape and have not had a sensor fail yet. So there are different methods of attachment when & where screws are not practical.
