I'm a newbie with a Mac. What do I need?

Just want to automate my sockets and switches and use my iPhone /iPad and the palmpad. What'd I need to buy?  Mousehouse? Does the software come with everything to get started?  Something I assume has to be plugged into a socket. Thanks.

"Xtension" is also a good MAC program.
