My Big Night
« on: October 27, 2011, 08:05:39 AM »

Well gang.....

This may sound strange, but tonight is Beggar's Night in my small burg. (think trick-or-treat night).  Got a new prop built this year and have the X10 hardware installed, and am currently writing the macros.   Problem is that we're expecting rain all day.

I'd like to get some video of it in action and post it, but this may not be possible.  I took some raw cell phone video at about 11 last night from the "Prop Shop" and will be sending it to HA Dave today.  Hopefully, he'll edit it a bit and post it, as I'm getting ready to take the trip to Cincinnati to get 100# of dry ice.

Dave will post the link when he gets to it (I haven't told him yet  ;)    ).  I hope you all enjoy and realize that the possibilities of X10 automation are only limited to your imagination.

You know I will do whatever I can! The phone email arrived without the attachment... we will keep at it.

I ran into a memory problem (my own not my computers) so I wasn't able to load this AWESOME video to Knightriders regular video channel the thisautomatedhouse YouTube Channel. So I loaded it to my own Site YouTube Channel for now.

You can view Knightriders Big Night Video Here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99soG2fIqCg

Knightrider that Is awesome if you could please post your setup as to how you made it work.  I have been trying to think up holiday ideas but you always seem to set it over the top.

Yeah, I am curious also. The great action and sound effects imply something more sophisticated that a simple reciprocating arm. Knight, you should consider sending a resume to Disney Casting department,  stressing special effects experience.

I would give this exhibition a score of 0.9 TEFERO-MEDINA's. (One T-M is the maximum score attainable)

Ok, Ok,

got to confess that the electric chair is a rip-off of Ed Edmund's Distortions Limited prop on a budget.  Had a neon transformer for the ladder, fished a treadmill out of the  trash for the motor, bought a mini fogger and a mini strobe.  My buddy Eric built the chair, I did the engineering and the final touches.  The Jacob's Ladder needs a relay on the transformer to make an appliance module run it, as does the strobe.  Body is made from chicken wire and the head is a mask adhered to a styrofoam wig stand with gorilla glue.  Sound FX triggered from a BVC listener, all run on an AHP macro.  The hardest part was the neck.  Seem the head kept flying off the shoulders.  A 10 inch piece of 4" corrugated field tile provided the neck, which in the end, also gave good head movement.  The rest was pretty much mundane.
