Presume this (Authenix) activation is all but dead?
« on: July 15, 2015, 09:15:02 AM »

With Microsoft giving Win 10 out free o/a July 29th one can only imagine the problems associated with  trying to get the old AHP software and hardware (CM15A) running on the new Win10 OS. B:( It would a good idea if Authenix would keep us abreast of the situation as far as the old AHP system is concerned?  -:)

During X10 WTI's bankruptcy, these servers were shut down, and much of the data was >apparently lost. We are working with networking and database professionals to try to gather this broken data and to >get ActiveHome back online. We are doing all we can to re-enable this software for past and future X10 customers.

AHP will work  on Windows 10. ;)
Using the installer Authinx has on their site it also will install.
Using AHP Lifejacket it is possible to register AHP and some of the plugins on Windows 10 as well.

Thanks Tuicemen.

I used your AHP Lifejacket to get the AHP s/w restored (with macros). Good to know that we can get Win 10 to work with it also. As long as my CM15A functions I'll limp on for now ;D.

No Problem, glad you have AHP working. :)%
I currently only have AHP Smartmacros and On Alert registered and running on Windows 10 32 bit.
Once a full Windows 10 build is released( end of the month) I'll get it on 64 bit However I don't foresee any issue.

I think Authinx is more focused on the newer modules and once the WiFi module is release they may look at revamping the CM15 and the software.
There are several factor affecting AHP and plug in activation.
1: Due to privacy laws Authinx doesn't have the user data base for the AHP registration server.
2: Since AHP was written with Visual studio 2003 c+ it doesn't port to newer versions and Visual studio 2003 is needed to make changes to it (which they don't have access to)
3: Also it is looking like some of the key code for AHP was lost as it was spread over several severs and not all have bee recovered.
I think a total rewrite of the program will be needed.
4: With AHP, several servers were used in its operation, one for registration, and others for the plugins operation so more then one server needs to be recreated in order for everything to work as it did, which wasn't great anyways.

Due to these issues I don't expect to see all plug-ins ever back up and working :(
Authinx had stated they planed to make AHP and the plugins free. I'm not sure how they can do this with the current build as running and maintaining servers cost money.

I think it would the best route if Authenix would do a rewrite (try to include the macros package). I would venture to say that a greater number of old X10 users would hang in there (and buy more X10 hardware in the interim).

I'll wait until you get Windows 10 working for 64 bit machines >!
