I'm running Vista Ultimate.  I run AHP in XP compat mode, and as Administrator.  I'd like to set it to load at startup.  Any ideas?

Just place a copy of the AHP Icon in the "start-up" folder.

Nope - unless UAC is disabled...  Which I did and it works, but I don't like UAC disabled... :'(

What is "UAC"? I haven't worked with Vista so if it's related to Vista, I don't know it.
Otherwise pardon my ignorance and thanks for keeping me educated.

UAC stands for User Account Control. According to Google, (UAC) is a technology and security infrastructure first introduced with Microsoft's Windows Vista operating system.

I have XP home and wondered too.

The UAC intrigued me so I spent some time looking into it and searching some forums!
One work around that you can try is :
  • Create a task in Task Manager which starts AHP
  • Set it to always run at start up with highest privileges

I don't run Vista yet so this is only a guess on my part as to if it will work! ;)
What ever you find to work please post for the rest of us as an OS upgrade is inevitable!

Wait a minute.... if your running as administrator.... how would UAC apply. Anyway... admin...or any-user would make little difference.. if the "user" of the program doesn't have full control.

UAC stops any program from running if it needs elevated control (a security measure in Vista)
Even running as administrator you get a pop up stating the program needs elevated control (which you must ok each time)
If your not running as administator you can't ok the program to run.
Why Active Home Pro needs elevated control is anyones guess! Perhaps the reason for the long delayed update to AHP is Vista and all its security! ::)

I'm not sure AHP needs UAC.  A friend of mine upgraded his OS to Vista when it was released. He runs AHP and it runs fine under Vista. He's never had a bit of trouble with AHP under XP or Vista.

The problem from what I understand is UAC is either On or OFF .
PajamGuy doesn't have a problem running AHP just autostarting it and wants the protection of UAC!
Has your friend Dan been able to do this using UAC?  If so please post how he did it! ;)
Maybe the reason UAC is stopping AHP from loading is PajamGuy   you are trying to run it as an Administrator which makes UAC think it needs elevated control!
I'm not sure AHP needs this!(elevated control) ::) ???
Many programs can load automaticaly when Vista loads the trick is to find how\why they can and AHP can't! ;)

I got it to work - while still leaving UAC on.  through the task manager.  I'll detail after the 1st.
