I replaced 2 Wall Switch Modules WS467 with 2 XPS3 modules.  These Modules operated my pourch light and my living room lamp.  they are on the same circuit and the Ws467 modules work ok for the most part.  One operating my porch light would turn on the light but would not turn it off.  The other WS467 worked without problem operating the lamp.  Once I replaced them with the XPS3 modules neither will operate.  I can switch them on manualy but they will not turn on using the CM15A, either by clicking the module or by timer.  I installed a XPS3 in my detatched workshop and that module works perfect.  I have not added any new devices or lights. I understand it might be noisy, but why would the WS467 modules work and the XPS3 not.  Any ideas would help.

I understand that most users don't want to hear this but to have a reliable X10 System requires a substantial upfront investment in time and effort.

The WS467 does not have a neutral, hence draws parasitic power through the incandescent load.

Where as the XPS3 requires a neutral so does not draw operating power through the load.

Could the small inductance of the filament clean up any noise sufficiently to allow a WS467 to operate?

I dunno the answer,  but as TTA suggests,  you might approach it as a possible noise problem.
