I installed a RWS17 X10 dimmer wall switch for an overhead light. I have a number of these in my house. When the light is on, you can hear a buzz from the switch and it gets really hot. Is it just a defective switch or is there something else going on here?

Is this just a regular incandescent light?  What's the total wattage?

Yesterday it worked.
Today it doesn't work.
X10 on Windows is like that.

It's a new chandelier we put in with 9 x 60 watt bulbs. I think I figured out the problem. The switch says it is rated for 500W. I should be okay if I install 40 watt bulbs I assume.
