Changes to Daylight Savings Time (DST)
« on: October 27, 2006, 01:21:04 PM »

Beginning in 2007, DST will be turned on the second Sunday in March, and off the first Sunday in November.
Will the CM15A be updated to the new changes (does the change come from the PC along with the programming, or is hard-coded into the firmware)?

Will we need to do anything to effect this change?

I believe the time the interface has comes from the the PC's clock. Since it happens every Spring and Fall, I forget if you have to clear the interface and reload for timers to run at the correct times.

I'll post what has to be done this Sunday morning.

I think the 2007 changes in Windows was addressed by one of Microsoft's many patches for XP. Any other O/S like 9x is unknown. You may have to set the correct time youself.

I can't see it being automatic within the CM15A since not every state / province uses DST.

It will be interesting to find out Sunday if it does change by itself.

I don't see how he CM15A can get the time other than from the computer.
As far as the time change goes my computer (Mac) is connected to the Internet, and sets the time automatically using a network time server. Naturally you can also set the date and time manually. I don't know anything about windows machines, so I don't know if your machine has this capability or not.

Seems like this questions gets asked twice every year.  Here is the answer from a post earlier this year  ...  http://www.x10community.com/forums/index.php?topic=8299.0

For what is worth, here is what I observed this morning:

First of all, AHP was running on the PC & attached to the CM15A all night.

When I opened up the Activity Monitor the time stamps were still at DST, even for new events.

My PC's clock (in the bottom right corner) has automatically changed (back 1 hour).

I re-downloaded my timers & macros to the CM15A. Looked at the Activity Monitor, activated a new event entry, and it was still registering DST time stamps.

I closed AHP and immediately reopened it. When I looked at the Activity Monitor, all time stamps are now the correct time. That is all entries have their time stamps reset to 1 hour back... INCLUDING YESTERDAY'S EVENTS!!!  :D

Still on my 1st coffee, so not ready to think of the logic behind this yet.  ;)

It may have something to do with how it effects your system.

Some programs require you to close and then re-open them for changes to take affect.

Others, require you to re-boot for the changes to take affect.

While, with some the changes take place immediately upon doing a save.

So according to the answer last year (which I should have serached for and found first), the interface SHOULD show the correct times when the clock changes.
However, I just checked my Hardware Configuration, and it shows the dusk and dawn times shifting on the first Sunday in April, instead of the second Sunday in March.
That will need to get updated, otherwise the duck and dawn timers will be off.
