Acentient Software has just released v1.02 of Adaptive Home Logic, a new multi-purpose home automation application for Windows XP.

You can only control X10 devices via the CM11A (which has had serial problems under XP) or the Firecracker, per the linked website. What about the CM15A USB interface?

All I can say is WOW!   
If it really does all they say, the only things BXVC has going for it are:

a) Price (Adaptive Home Logic $35 - $50, BXVC $0 (so far))
b) CM15A support (Adaptive Home Logic NO (so far), BXVC YES (but only the CM15A so far  ))

Too bad I can't even afford the $35 to play with Adaptive Home Logic. 

Talk about competition!

The fact that X-10's old ActiveHome software can have serial port problems under Win XP doesn't mean that all software for the CM11A has problems under Win XP.

XP problems with serial ports depends on the motherboard in the PC.  It's not 100% in the entire XP universe. 

This "new update" is British, so US/Canada users won't be able to use it. X10 there is handled by X10 Europe, and they are using the their version of the CM11A.

I'm sure software other than ActiveHome has managed to work around this.  Why don't you download the free trial version of this program and find out instead of being so negative.

This "new update" is British, so US/Canada users won't be able to use it. X10 there is handled by X10 Europe, and they are using the their version of the CM11A.

While the European versions of the CM11, e.g. the CM12U in the UK, are not plug-compatible with the North American CM11A because of voltage and frequency difference,  they are fully software compatible.  There's no reason British software won't work with a North American CM11A operated in North America.

The problem is serial port communication.  Some users have success using a usb to serial converter, which has been discussed here. My system under XP developed the serial port problem right away, so Active Home and the CM11A went in the storage box and AHP and the CM15A came.  I did put AH on a Viao laptop I have running WinME as a back up if the main box dies for some reason.

Since their seems to be no way the CM15A will work with the "New Update. I'm staying away from it.
