Light module only works in some outlets in house
« on: December 11, 2006, 07:00:50 AM »

I bought some X-10 light modules to control my Christmas lights in my house.  I am controlling them with a Radio Shack Plug n Power Security System.  They work fine in certain rooms in my house, but will not work in other rooms in my house.  Have any of you ever heard of this before?  These are hard wired and and should work over the electrical wires and not RF.  Any ideas?  Thanks.

You either have a phase problem or a noise problem.

Spend some time reading the entire forum. This is not a new problem.

I did some testing last night and when I had my oven turned on my light modules worked perfectly which makes m think a plug in coupler will do the trick.  The problem is that the plug configuration on the back of my dryer is different than the one I saw on Smarthomes website.  My dryer has 3 plugs that are all the same on an angle.  Do you know of any other couplers?  I did not pull my oven out yet to check the plug on that yet.

There are two standard types of 2-Phase plugs, 3-Wire & 4-Wire.

SignaLinc Plug-In Phase Coupler (For 3-Wire 220v Dryers)

SignaLinc Plug-In Phase Coupler (For 4-Wire 220v Dryers)

As an alternative you can get one that you wire into your Circuit Breaker Panel:

SignaLinc Hardwired Signal Coupler
