I agree 100%!

However, I would think that this would require the CM15A to be able to transmit RF codes, and not just receive them.  I wonder if it, hardware wise, has that ability?  It would sure be great if it did!

It does.  Note the icons for the VCR Commanders, which are RF receivers,

The IR Commander (UX17A) is out of production though, so I doubt X-10 would expend the resources to add it to AHP.

X10 on Windows is like that.

Walt2:   the CM15A does have the ability to send RF
and there is a work around to send commands to the IR Commander! posted in the SDK section!

It maybe out of production but X10 is still selling them!

They even got the gull to call them "The New IR Commander"

I know I got taken ::) luckily I have a few old PCs laying around and was able to program it! but using it with AHP is A pain to setup! ;) :D ;D

The Sundowner is just a transmitter of standard X10 powerline commands and nothing has to be added to AHP for it, whereas a plug-in or internal code module would need to be added for the IR Commander.

A major shortcoming of the UX17A IR Commander is that it has no "learn" feature for IR codes - it's limited to the table of IR codes built into its internal controller.  So if your newer electronic gear uses IR codes not in the table you're out of luck.

I haven't seen a "new" IR Commander.  If it still has just the internal IR code table and no "learn" feature, it's possible X-10 has extended the table to include more and/or newer IR codes, but this is just a guess.

I took a look at the RF codes transmitted by the UX17A  Commander software with a CM17A using a MR26A as a monitor.  The regular "button" codes were clear enough but the code to set up the UX17A for a particular manufacturer's IR codes escaped me - it looked like the same setup codes were transmitted regardless of the manufacturer.   What have you learned or done with AHP about this? (Or are you using the UX17A software for the setup and the AHP only for the button codes?)

Charles Sullivan :
I've programed the IR commander with the commander software and use the window command in macros to fire batch files.
This allows AHP to turn on/off a few devices thats as far as I've gotten! ::)
It can't seem to find the codes for my Panasonic DVD player! ::)
TV and VCR are not a problem ;) :D ;D
Even if this  "New IR Commander" has NEW internals you still need the OLD software to program it! :o ::) >:( Which means it can't be programed with the newer codes! YET ::) ;) :D ;D

Oh, then I would like to suggest that they possibly dust off the old CM14A/AH2 software, and update the IR remote support sections for the CM15A/AHPro !!!

For those who don't know, the CM14A would transmit "learned" IR codes out to one of the PowerMID receivers.  The PowerMID receiver would take the RF and "blast" the IR codes into the room in which it was located.   You could initiate this manually with the CM14A/AH2, or have them sent as part of a timer event or macro.  I use to have macros like "turn off light and turn off TV".

Now, the CM15A doesn't have an IR detector in it, so I guess that it can't learn IR codes like the CM14A did.  Instead, there is a standard file format used by high-end remotes to program them for new IR codes (the video guys on the 'net pass these files around freely).  Possibly, in lieu of learning IR codes, AH Pro could use/read those same files.

Wow, this all might be possible!

IR Commander
This is the top of my list. :-*
I need it to control my Quad, VCR and TV. :D

Don't need it now! I have  the USB-UIRT IR Control doing the work  :D

I also have my own Home Director Software up and running in VB5,
and yes, I do use House Codes A-Z

A - P are for PLC and RF  :)

Q-Z are internal commands like:  ::)

Q controls my Video Quad via USB-UIRT
R controls my RS232 Ports and Video Quad Motion Detection and Alarms
S Play and Record Sound/Video Files
T for my TV - Monitor - USB-UIRT
U - Unused for now
V - Controls my VCR - USB-UIRT
W - Play .wav files
X - Unused for now
Y - Unused for now
Z - Unused for now - maybe Zwave

I have Check Boxes to:
Enable/Disable Macros also in each macro
Enable/Disable Timers also in each timer
Enable/Disable Console Beeper
Enable/Disable Sounds

It will keep tract of all Module Status and give reports and print them
The log file has search functions for HC, UC, On, Off etc.
Option to auto-save.

DST using the computer DST status.

Not as many graphics as AHP, but graphics don't get the job done.

I have NEVER had a problem with my CM15!
except for RF receive range. I now have Whole House Receiver also.
I have never removed the batteries.!
The CM15 is rock solid! It's the AHP that sucks..... :'(
I have had as many as 7 programs running, using the CM15, at one time, :o
with no problems.........!
