Vangaurd vs AHP

I have Vanguard installed, came with my order. I'm wondering if I should upgrade to AHP. I'm having problems reliably controlling my cameras via the sensors (yes, I have them set up properply and turned off the dawn/dusk sensor). I'm also having problems recording video and snapshots. Seems as those I may need to write some macros to help tweak things and this does not seem to be available in Vanguard, hence I keep hearing about AHP macros. Just wanted some input from anyone who's run both Vanguard and AHP.
