Make a PF284 PowerFlash Mole Detector
« on: April 29, 2007, 02:40:59 PM »

This is very simple to do and results are great! :D

You need two pieces of 1x2 or 2x2, 7 inches long and one thin piece of molding. :-

Drill a hole on each end of the 1x2's for a large nail, slip fit.

Attach the small molding perpendicular to one 1x2 in the center.

Attach a wire to the center of the other 1x2 with a screw, large head.

Attach a wire to the end of the molding with a small bolt.

Attach the other ends of the wires to a PF284 PowerFlash, Mode 3. :P

Place the 1x2 with the wire in the center, across a Mole tunnel, push nails down on each side to secure.

Place the other 1x2 with the molding adjacent to the 1st. and secure with nails

The contacts, the screw and bolt, must line-up and be 1/16 inch apart.  ;)

Program your AHP or whatever to sound the Mole action alarm.

When the alarm is triggered, go outside, where the ground is moving, and stomp him

Dig it up and toss................ :D

You may have just won the award for the most off the wall home automation application of the year!  Great idea.  I notice you tried to post pictures but they didn't come through and we'd like to see them.  Let us know how you tried to post them and we'll try to give you some help.

The problem appears to be that I have to join your "group" to see the pictures.  What If I don't choose to for any of a variety of reasons.  The rest of us have posted our pictures on free servers that don't require viewers to join anything.

While the "more photos link" appears to require a sign up, the 1st 4 pictures did not for me.

On my computer the pictures show up as 4 little white squares containing a red X. May be a security thing on my work network. I'll check when I get home.

Jim

That's how they showed up for me too and I'm at home.  My hardware firewall has never blocked anything from here before.

Oldtimer is 100% on-the-money here (I began to reply with a similar answer hours ago, but being in my 3rd day of some kind of "Stomach Bug", I unexpectedly got "called away". :( )

steinie44,

PLEASE follow the advice that I've given so many others - create a *FREE* Yahoo! GeoCities account and put your images there...

[Then, I can also DELETE all the unrelated-to-the-subject-but-true "I can't see the pics..." posts. ;)  Thanks! ]

Evidently it makes a difference with the photo viewer installed on the computer.  I get the pictures fine on my desktop but not on my laptop.  I have Paint Shop on the desktop.

I have Paiint Shop Pro on my computer so I don't think that's it.  I suspect the difference between your computer and your laptop is that the computer has a cookie in it that keeps it permanently logged into your picture site but the laptop doesn't have a cookie that keeps it permanently logged in.

If steinie44 would like to email me the images I would be happy to put them on my server and post them here.

Photos show up fine now.  Nice clear shots by the way.  I'm even more impressed now by this X10 application than I was when I just read about it.  A simple, practical application.
