Camera shut off at night???

I just received my AHP and iwitness software, a CM15A, a video receiver (VR31A) and a XCam2 WideEye InstantON camera model XC19A.  Setup was relatively painless and worked straight away.  I get a pretty good video signal on my TV.  Before permanantly mounting on the outside of my house though I wanted to see how this did at night.  Last night when I switched over to view the video signal, it was gone and now this morning it is back on.  We have quite a few lights on the front of our house, so I figured there would be plenty of ambient light, but do these cameras have some sort of a shut off if there isn't enough light hitting the CCD?

These cams don't auto turn off with insufficient light.
Do you get a black screen or a snowy one? If snowy the cams are indeed off, just black means there isn't enough light!
You don't mention if you have a motion sensor they will send an off signal at dusk to the next unit number upand a on command at dawn. That could be what is turning off your cam if it is indeed getting turned off at dark and on again at dawn.

Yes if you have any motion sensors. The Dusk dawn On Off is one unit code higher then the motion code. So if the camera is on A1 and triggered by a motion sensor. A camera on A2 would go off and any other camera on A1 A3 or A4 as camera supplies are grouped in units of 1-4;5-8;9-12 and 13-16. Turn one in a group on the other three go off.

Ambient light..... isn't that the amount of light that allows me to walk around the house at night and not walk into things?

Ambient light isn't generally enough for cameras. Though the wide-eye cam may be the best in low light conditions, you will most likely need a light. I use (and really like) the X10 floodlight. Besides the motion sensor turning on the floodlights, it also sends X10 line signals (for BOTH motion and dusk/dawn).
