I was having a ton of trouble getting a DS10A to register, or rather re-register.  I expect a couple of other issued were also solved by "Emptying" deleted modules and Clearing Interface (CM15A) memory - then re-loading the CM15A.

It seems to me that this X10 stuff is:
1.  Pretty damn solid.
2.  Been around for a while
3.  Hammered-on quite a bit by the Geeks & Nerds residing here.

I'm new & the documentation for any of the X10 components reeeaaalllllyyyy sucks! - however, trial & error, reading these boards, asking questions, and using a tad of logic works.

I haven't yet found a real bug, problem, or issue that wasn't my own fault, or couldn't be worked-around. :)

Question:  I installed a new DS10A on my overhead garage door last night.  It's about 50' away and through some walls.  It's not registered in my DS7000.  In AHP, there's a flashing battery icon in the module.  Can I assume it's a weak signal?

Before  assuming a weak signal.... check the battery.

Another note: If you have a large metal object (like a garage door) it can [negitively] effect signal transmission. You can use a longer wire from the DS10A unit to it's magnetic reed switch.
