Is the current version compatible with Vista?
« on: January 11, 2008, 01:01:45 PM »

Is the current version of Active Home Pro, Compatible with Vista? I have made several attempts to get Active home to work with Vista, and I can not even get the program to start. All I get is, a single beep and nothing.

As you'll find when you search the forum, AHP is compatible with Vista. The only known problem I'm aware of is that there are no Vista drivers for the VA11A that is used for camera interface.

I think the Op is trying to get Active Home and the serial CM11A to work on Vista, which may the motherboard/serial port problem noted with AP.

For me to get ActiveHome pro, I would have to purchase it? Is there anyway to upgrade to the pro version for free?

No.

Active Home Pro comes with a new USB connected X10 interface (the CM15A) which is included in the price.

Okay, where do I download the ActiveHome Pro software? Before I spend another penny on "active home" or "x-10", I want to make sure the program will actually work! I was informed that the ActiveHome regular program would work on Vista. I only get a single beep when I attempt to start the program.  Its not an interface problem, its a program problem!

Nevermind, I found the link to the software and downloaded it. And guess what, it works on Vista! I bought a Serial port to USB converter and the CM11A is working! Thanks for nothing.

So, you are able to run Active Home/CM11a on Vista with a com post -USB converter cable?  Does your Computer have built-in USB ports?

Hmm...
First you installed ActiveHome on your Vista system and it didn't work.
Then you downloaded some software (presumably ActiveHome?) and installed it on your Vista system and now it does work.   ???

Yesterday it worked.
Today it doesn't work.
X10 on Windows is like that.
