V572RF32 - hangs - (gets stuck transmitting)
« on: July 17, 2008, 09:01:55 AM »

Got home last night after a 36 hr business trip to find nothing associated with AHP was working.  No light control from any remote, etc.  None of the timers executed, etc.  I went to bed.

This morning, I rebooted the PC and tried to clear & download to the CM15.  Curiously, the clear/load icon (progress bar at bottom-left of AHP) did NOT show up.  The DOWNLOAD icon just to the right of where the progress bar should have been, was the only indicator working.  The battery indicator of the CM15 (TOOLS->Hardware Config) was "0" and RESET had no effect.

I unboxed and plugged in a brand new CM15 and got the same thing.  Selecting Activity Monitor produced nothing.  Selecting Reports->Status produced nothing.

On a hunch, I went to my V572RF32 - and sure enough, the attached 501 was blinking constantly.  I unplugged the V572RF32 and stuff settled down - control came back.  And yes, I sent an email to WGL Designs support.

After work today, I'll reset the system and check things out.   I'll also put an appliance module on the power to the V572RF32 and have it cycle on a timer.

On the other hand, my better-half has been away for 4 weeks assisting our youngest daughter with the birth of her first child.  She just got home 3 days ago.  During the 4 weeks, things seemed to run pretty smoothly???  Within a few hours of her return, my CM15a found itself on the floor behind my computer desk, "because it looked ugly sitting on top of the table"..... :'   They just don't understand...  :'(

Has anyone else experienced a V572RF32 stuck in transmit?

Yup... occurred twice since I started using it (~8 months). Like you I had to unplug the V572RF32 to make it stop. Unfortunately by the time I realized something was wrong, my AHP Activity Monitors were saturated and was unable to see what could have possibly started it.

I got this response from their support:

PajamaGuy,
I have not heard of this type of failure before.
Look at the label on your V572rf32, under the item number 40010 is there a 4
digit alpha/number there?   This will tell me if you have the latest version
of the firmware.

Have you been able to recreate this lockup condition?

I will look to see if I can find any other instance like this in our records.

Mr. Puck - if you can post your 4-digit number, I'll include your response with mine tonight.

There is no label under that number on mine. I don't see anything else that could be a version.

The program that sets it up is v3.0. Not sure if that helps or not.

I attached a pic of mine showing the firmware date code - mine's "B45C".

I've been trading emails with them and they're going to treat it as NOT an isolated incident (thanks to Mr. Puck) and do some testing before they start shipping units back and forth!

I believe it was an "A" housecode that was repeating when mine first hung, but I also was unable to get to the monitor because of the saturation this past time.

Unfortunately mine does not have anything but the item number written on it. I purchased mine through Aartech (their Canadian dealer), so maybe they didn't label those ones.  ???

My incidents were housecode A as well.

I hesitate to respond to this one, but I had one instance of this (also with House Code A) in the year+ I have had the V572RF32 in my system.  I just unplugged the transformer and the PSC05, and it hasn't happened since.  Just wanted you to know that it does happen, but I never figured what triggered it.

count me in.  I have no numbers beneath the 40010.  Has happened at least 4 times in the 10 months.  Had to unplug to restore.

Just maybe - I set it to NOT transceive "A" and haven't had a storm since - but it's only been 1 day.....

I do not have HC A transceived either and the A11 or A1 storms still occur.

This board is acting weird - try advanced search on the word "the" from 0 -5 days old???

Re: The V572 - My safety valve of trapping "A"'s was not working because the "OFF" signal to the appliance module controlling the V572 wasn't getting through the storm.  So I changed the AM's address to one that I have a TM751 transceiving and I have AHP send an RF signal.  Works like a champ.

I'm getting closer to discovering what triggers the V572's storm - (I think) - It seems to be related to either an EagleEye, or a series of PalmPad commands - OR- when there are a bunch of nested or delayed macros firing.  Although the original storm for my system happened at 3 am when nothing but heartbeats were happening......

In any case, it's working nicely, and my failsafe seems to operating.
